It started with a small misunderstanding and it escalated into a major rift that finally erupted into an exchange of bitter words followed by weeks of silence. One morning there was a knock at John’s door.
He opened it and a man had a carpenter’s toolbox. “I am looking for work for a few days,” he said. “Perhaps you have some little errands here and there. Can I help you?”
“Yes,” said the elder brother. “I have a job for you. Look across the creek at that farm. He’s my neighbor, actually, he’s my little one. Last week we had a haystack and he took his bulldozer to the river bank.” gone and now there’s a creek between us. Well, he may have done it to annoy me, but I’d better have a go at him. See that pile of wood by the barn? I want you to make a Build a fence – an 8 foot fence – so I won’t have to watch his place anymore. Cool him down anyhow.”

The elder brother had to go to town for supplies, so he helped the carpenter prepare the materials for me, and then he left for the day. The carpenter worked hard for the whole day in measuring, sawing and hammering nails. When the farmer returned at sunset, the carpenter had just finished his work. Farmer’s eyes opened, his jaw dropped?
There was no fence there. It was a bridge – a bridge leading from one end of the creek to the other! A nice piece of handy railing and all—and the neighbor, his little brother, held out his hand.
“After all I’ve said and done, you’ve been enough of a companion to build this bridge.”
The two brothers stood at either end of the bridge, and then they met in the middle, holding each other’s hands. They turned back and saw the carpenter lifting his toolbox over his shoulder. “No, wait! Wait a few more days. I have many other projects for you,” said the elder brother.
“I would love to stay,” said the carpenter, “but I have many more bridges to build.”
