One day Buddha was passing through a village. A very angry and rude young man came and started insulting him, “You don’t have any proper education, others,” he shouted.
Buddha was not troubled by these insults. Instead he asked the young man, “Tell me, if you buy a gift for someone and that person doesn’t take it, whose gift is it?”
The man was surprised to be asked such a strange question and replied, “It will be mine. Because I bought the gift.”

The Buddha smiled and said, “That’s right. And it’s the same with your anger. If you get angry at me and I don’t get insulted, the anger comes back to you. Then the only ones who get hurt are It’s you, not me. All you’ve done is hurting yourself. If you want to stop hurting yourself, you must get rid of your anger and become loving instead. If you hate others, you yourself become unhappy. But when you love others, everyone is happy.”
